The blocks of stone consist of high white purity background and classical thunderbolt veins which is why it was so popular in the past for statue making. As with the other Carrara marbles, it is easy to work and carve, therefore, making it to grand houses and public buildings over the centuries. Now this beautiful stone is associated with grandeur and opulence. As with all marbles, there are different grades and each block’s prices vary accordingly. With Statuary, the whiter the block and fewer the veins, the more expensive the block. The best blocks are very rare and highly prized.
